Like I mentioned yesterday, we went to Texas last weekend to visit relatives. We left Saturday morning about 5 a.m. That was after a failed attempt at setting the alarm clock correctly and sleeping an hour later than planned. We were hoping to leave around 4:30-ish. Oh well. The trip down was uneventful. Great, I suppose, if you like riding in the car for 4 hours considering we have 2 small kids. Ryan talked the entire way there and Evan slept most of it. We stopped once mid-way for a donut, coffee, and gas.

Saturday morning we went to eat breakfast at Pete's. It's our favorite...and a tradition we wish not to ever break. After breakfast we went back to Gigi and Pawpaw's house for about an hour or 2. We then drove about an hour to Arlington to see great grandma. While we were there and on our way back the heaven's opened up and it dumped buckets. Major storms!

Upon our return to Gigi and Pawpaw's house we visited for a while, and we played for a couple hours. Then we went to the Harvest Festival at Gigi and Pawpaw's church. By that time Ryan had been awake since 5 a.m. (short nap on the way to see great grandma), in the car for almost 6 1/2 hours for the day, and getting rather tired. We only stayed for about 30 minutes. However, Ryan did manage to land himself in jail... It better be the one and only time he lands himself in jail!

Sunday morning came early after an alarm in Gigi and Pawpaw's house startled the crowd (us) into the new day. We got up, ate, dressed, and went to church. Ryan did great in his little classroom. Evan did great during services until about the last 10 minutes. At which time he and I joined Ryan in the nursery. After church we went to a bbq place and ate and visited with great friends. Ryan went to sleep right as we arrived and would NOT wake up, so we made a bench out of a couple chairs and he slept peacefully (and I ate peacefully!).

After lunch we went back to Gigi and Pawpaw's house and visited and played and took a walk. We started on our way home around 4:30 and got home around 10:30. Yes!...that's six hours to traverse a 4-hour trip. Construction. Ugh.

We had a great weekend, but man were we pooped!

Generations

I'm sooooo far behind in sharing pictures and stories of what's been happening with the Stanfill family, and I want to share them all! Part of the problem...we've been SO busy doing so much that I can't catch up and another thing...evenings are generally my only time on the computer and by 8 o'clock I can't think straight enough to write a decent post (too tired). Anyway...
Last weekend we went to Texas and one of the highlights was seeing Wade's grandmother. Here is Great-Grandma Lena and her newest great-grandson, Evan.

WCC 4-Months

This sweet little boy has had a difficult day.

It started with a visit to the pediatrician which ended with 3 vaccine and 1 oral immunizations. Poor little boy. He screamed all the way out of the office and into the car. At least the rest of the day he was able to spend wrapped in the Moby wrap on his Momma. He loved riding around while big brother played at the pumpkin patch (more about that another day), but it was quite evident that he wasn't feeling so great.

The doctor was very pleased with Evan...everything about him

Let me tell you a little bit about this little guy...

• First of all...he is a hoot! He's hilarious. I love this age. I adore this little boy!
• He talks non-stop.
• He makes jokes...sort of.
• He loves to chase and be chased.
• He loves to help.
• He loves praise and he loves approval.
• He has started asking for permission for things that previously he wouldn't have asked (like touching the neighbor's yard ornaments).
• He loves his family.
• He loves animals. He regularly tells me he wants 2 kitties and a dog. I'd love to oblige that request sometime. I've been keeping my eyes and ears open for a good-ole' family dog for him to run around with and enjoy.
• He loves being outside.
• He refers to himself as good-boy or peanut and sometimes Ryan. The other day a waitress asked him his name and he very seriously replied, "Good-Boy Peanut." She very seriously replied, "that's a great name." The rest of us were cracking up!
• He's becoming very affectionate and his praises are worth the world. I love it when he says, "Momma I'm so proud of you." I really think that could be translated to, "Momma, I really love you a lot."
• He's still wild and crazy. He doesn't stop running unless he's sleeping.
• He fights taking a nap, but gets exceptionally cranky by 7 without one.
• He won't eat green things or red things unless, of course, it's candy.
• He likes watching movies and his favorites right now are: Flushed Away, Veggies Tales, and Pop-Pop-Seet-Seet (Intro to Star Trek)
• He wants Santa to bring him new big green tractors although I expect that to change many times before Christmas.
• He's got the "I wants" confused with the "I needs" and looking through toy ads goes something like this..."I neeeeed this and I neeeeed this and I neeeeed a bunch of these and..."
• He protects his baby brother and...
• He tries to beat up his baby brother.
• He hasn't learned about pay-backs yet.
• He likes the color pink, but hey..."Real men wear pink!"
• He still loooooves cars.
• He goes to bed with several cars each night.
• He's learning more and more everyday.
• He's my favorite 3-and-a-half-year-old and I just love him so much!

4 Months

You're 4! 4-months old that is. You are so stinkin' cute!

The Master Chef

Ryan loves to help me cook. Lately he has done a MARVELOUS job cleaning out my spice cabinet. I no longer have to worry about sifting through dozens of bottles of herbs and spices looking for that *one* particular ingredient. I now only have a handful of herbs and spices...and yes...they are the ones I use the most. The rest...well...lets just call them a suicide concoction that now have their own bottles marked with an "X" so when the Master Chef wants to cook again...he can!

Where's Evan?

Evan has started preferring and sometimes needing a blanket covering his head to fall asleep. I guess it helps block out the noise and visual distractions or perhaps its just a comfort thing from being covered to eat when we're out and about.

By the way...this is daytime (nap) picture during which I check on him very regularly. I never let him sleep at night all wrapped up like this.

Car Wash

Now don't go calling the child-labor police. Ryan helped his Nana wash her car the other day. He took the job VERY serious. He did such a good job. Now if I can just get him to wash mine too!
