Do You Know My Daddy

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all.

Yeah He loves us
O how He loves us
O how He loves us
O how He loves
We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
So Heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…

How He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all.

Yeah He loves us
O how He loves us
O how He loves us
O how He loves

Evan, my beautiful, sweet, innocent young son often comes running with arms opened wide and high.  "Hold me".  An innocent plea for love and acceptance.  Comfort.  A plea that leads to a joyful rise to the level of my lips for a gentle kiss.  (His...quite sloppy and wet.)  His head then blissfully rests for a moment or more on my shoulder.  His face snuggles deeply in the softness of my chest.   "I love you Mommy" are the words of his heart, unspoken.  Oh how I love him.  I love both my boys with a love that can't even be described.

Do you know that love?  More importantly do you know my Daddy?  Some just know God as their "Father", a stately and reverential knowing.  But you can truly know him as your "Daddy", a common and comfortable, pick-me-up-and-hold-me kind of knowing.  Can you crawl up in God's lap? Can you know Him, trust Him, love Him like a child toward his mom?  He wants that.  God wants you to know Him.  His arms are opened wide, beckoning you.  God's love is like a hurricane.  His grace like an ocean.  Will you let His love consume you?  Your Daddy wants you.  Know him.  Love Him.

I can run to my Daddy with arms opened wide.  "Pick me up".  "Hold me" I say.  I lay my head on His shoulder, bury my face in His chest.  "I love you, Daddy." are the words of my heart, unspoken.
